50 Cent turns skinny and loses 4 stone for “Things Fall Apart”

Posted on May 28, 2010 with 3 Comments

I read a few months back that 50 cent had won a part for a new film and that he had to shed around 4 stone to play the part!  To be honest I thought it was just some hype and that nothing would really come of it.  How wrong was I?!

Pictures have been released on thisis50.com that made me look twice, and then again just to make sure it was a real image! 50 Cent plays a football player diagnosed with cancer in the new movie.

Three hour treadmill sessions and a liquid diet is the way he has managed to shed the weight in just 9 weeks according to the post.

He’s finished filming now and has said “I’ve been eating. I’ll be back in shape in no time!” I’m wondering just how quick he will get back into shape??  Could this be the quickest turn around ever?!

I wonder what else he used to shed that much weight that quick??  Check out the images below!!  Anyone fancy a cut after seeing these??

BodyPower Expo 2010 Birmingham NEC UK Review

Posted on May 27, 2010 with No Comments

After missing out on BodyPower Expo 2009 last year I decided that this year I would go for the whole weekend!  I seen the line up back in mid November/December and decided to take the plunge on a weekend pass with an upgraded VIP ticket.  The cost for the weekend ticket was £26.00 and the VIP upgrade was £20.00.  It may have been the other way around, I can’t really remember as it was a fair few months ago that I bought the tickets.  Either way, the price of the ticket wasn’t an issue, I thought it was well priced.

I seen that My Olympia Jay Cutler was going to be there and as it was going to be his first appearance in the UK in 7 years and his only for 2010 I wanted to make sure I had the best chance of meeting him to get a picture and to see just how much of a monster he is!!  I think if it weren’t for the fact that Jay Cutler was going to be there I wouldn’t have got the VIP upgrade.  I wanted to get the best chance as possible to get a picture with him, as it turned out I didn’t really need it to meet him but I was unsure and didn’t want to take the risk.  So well done to BodyPower for booking him because it raised the whole profile of the weekend and raised extra revenue I imagine.

I got to the event about 2 hours before it started on Saturday morning.  I didn’t want to miss anything and didn’t fancy sitting in traffic, missing time of the expo wasn’t really an option.  I was pretty happy to see the parking was free for the event.  When I entered the car park it was saying £8.00 to pay but the barriers were up so that was a bit of a bonus!!  It was pretty easy to find the right car park and the hall although a heads up would of been nice from the BodyPower team via e mail or snail mail perhaps??  It wasn’t really an issue because there were already a load of people walking to the entrance so I knew where to go, just follow the massive guys right?

I read on a few forums that the food at  BodyPower Expo 2009 wasn’t up to much.  Subway and NEC outlets were pretty much the only option.  So I decided I’d take my own food for the Saturday and try and sort something for Sunday.  I thought about a cool box but decided against it because the one I have is pretty clunky.  I’m glad I bought my own food is all I can really say on the matter.  There was a stand selling burgers and hotdogs, they were buffalo so it was OK but on white buns so not so good, £4.00 a burger.  Then there was a company selling beef rolls on wholemeal bread but I didn’t think very much of it, they wanted £5.00 a roll too!!  Is that a joke?  Apart from that a few stands were selling protein bars and shakes, and obviously there were a shed load of free samples to taste but there’s only so much of that you can have before realising you need actual food!!  I would of liked to of seen a stand selling some form of chicken/turkey/tuna product, something a bit healthier and bodybuilding orientated.  I overheard Flex Lewis talking to Rich Gaspiri slating the food, he should have done a Jay Cutler and bought his own food! I seen Jay eating 9 or so plates of sushi!  That definitely wasn’t bought from the expo!  So overall the food was poor and something that needs to be improved on for BodyPower Expo 2011.

One other negative about the Expo was the general organising of the event.  It wasn’t horrendous but I needed a timetable of events which I only managed to see on Sunday after I seen someone else have one and asked where they got it from!  It should have been in the bag I got when I walked into the Expo or in obvious locations to pick up!  A loud speaker would of also been useful as the timetable seemed to be off due to things over running.  There was a challenge on the main stage on Saturday which was something to do with a guy called The Dragon?! I didn’t watch it all but I caught the end because there was rumours Phil Heath was going to be doing a guest pose after.   In the end it was a UK Bodybuilding comp which was good to watch BUT… It clashed with Jay Cutler doing a q and a in another part of the hall.  I think the comp was late starting due to the over running dragon thing and the amount of time it took for the advertising boards to be put up was way too long!!!  Luckily I managed to catch the Jay Cutler Q and A.  That was one of the major highlights of the weekend in my eyes.  Jay Cutler answered questions for about half an hour or so and did a few poses after which was brilliant to see.  I’ll write a bit more about Jay Cutler later in this review.

I was really impressed with the amount of stands at the Expo.  Obviously it would of been better if there were more as there would have been more to see.  But I think that’s always going to be the case, more more more!!  I was expecting to see more companies trying to sell their products and more general sellers at the Expo though.  Explosive Fibres were there selling, they had some great products at some great prices.  I was surprised that the companies were only taking cash!  I was expecting to be able to pay on card for everything.  the only company who were taking card from what I seen were Extreme Nutrition who had a decent stand selling their products at good prices.  Their staff were really friendly except for one Scottish bald guy who was pretty rude to a few customers from what I seen.  I still bought from them though haha…

What also surprised me was how they had a large hall but weren’t using all of the space.  there was a massive area to the far corner of the hall which was empty.  yet at the entrance where MuscleTech and MyProtein were it was crammed for space, and as the queue to see Jay Cutler was so long it made that area one to avoid for large amounts of the day. The queueing system could of been better.  I seen a load of people pushing in which made things take longer and raised the temperature of people in the queue in an already boiling room!  BodyPower 2011 needs to use the space better for sure!

The Strongman Challenge was brilliant with good amount of UK guys in attendance.  Terry Hollands, Jimmy Marku, Mark Felix and Laurence Shahlaei were there and I think I seen Dave Meer but I may be wrong?  I would definitely like to watch some more Strongman competitions this year as a result of seeing that.  It would of been nice to of seen a few leaflets or something promoting them?!  Mariusz Pudzianowski was in attendance but only for a little part of Sunday from what I seen, I think it had something to do with losing his fight and being injured?    I managed to get a picture with Terry Hollands and Mark Felix, I tried to get one with Jimmy Marku but he said no!!  I was pretty gutted to be honest he just walked off!  Made me look a bit of a muppet but it wasn’t the end of the world.  Terry Hollands is massive!  If you have never seen him in real life I would recommend you do because seeing him on TV just doesn’t do him justice.  The guy is immense.

I had no interest in the MMA Competition, Kettlebells, Exertrain Challenge,  Wrestling or Boxing so I can’t really give an opinion on it.  I walked past the events whilst they were on.  It all seemed like it was professional, safe and well managed.  That’s all I can really say about them though so sorry if you were expecting something more!!  I didn’t go for those parts of the Expo, more so for the Bodybuilding, Powerlifting and Strongman  parts of it.  If they were dropped from next year I wouldn’t lose any sleep, nor would I be bothered if they were there next year.

Jay Cutler has always been my favourite bodybuilder, so this section of the review was always going to be very pro Jay Cutler.  However even if I wasn’t pro Jay Cutler there is noway I could write anything negative about the way he was at Bodypower Expo 2010.  He was brilliant in every way from signing autographs, t shirts, magazines and other merchandise to shaking hands and doing pictures.  He was at the MuscleTech stand for what seemed to be hours upon hours! Smiling all the time and taking pictures with fans.  Sure he gets paid the most and sure he is number 1 so he should be expected to do more but I genuinely got the impression he was loving every minute of it.

The Q and A section he did in the corner of the arena was  brilliant.  He answered every question that was asked of him and he even did poses at the end.  It was just a shame there was noise from the expo that made it pretty hard to hear what he was saying.  I was hanging off every word and was getting annoyed with hearing music from outside.  I think they put a workout area next to the Q and A room.  Why the hell did they do that!!??  I was surprised how nice he was and how long he stayed at the Expo.  He was offered a chair to sit down in the Q and A bit but because people were behind him he declined and stood for the whole thing.  I know it wasn’t exactly hours or anything but I got the impression he wanted to go the extra mile for the fans.  Jay Cutler being at Bodypower 2010 was enough of a reason to go to the event.  He promised to be back next year so I would recommend if you didn’t go this year to go to Bodypower Expo 2011 to see him.  He really is in brilliant shape, he towered over everyone else at the Expo in terms or muscle size and definition.   Maybe next year if he is there he will do an official guest pose on the Main Stage??!!

Phil Heath and Dennis Wolf did guest poses and they were both really impressive.  I managed to get a decent spot and they really were massive!  I think Dennis Wolf will do better than last year at Mr Olympia 2010.  As will Phil Heath.  But I guess that’s for another post…

In Summery BodyPower Expo 2010 was great.  For me the highlights were;

  1. Jay Cutler and his efforts
  2. Phil Heath and Dennis Wolf guest pose
  3. Strongman Challenge
  4. UK Bodybuilding Competition
  5. The amount of free samples I got. (2 bags full)

In the “To Be Inproved Section”

  1. More food stands selling “good” food!
  2. More companies selling their products (with taking card) both clothing and supplement companies needed.
  3. Better queueing facility
  4. Better organising of the day and informing visitors of changes to schedules!
  5. Quiet Area needed so the speaker isn’t battling with the sound of the expo in the background!
  6. More benefits for buying a VIP Pass!

Would like to see at Bodypower 2011 (wishlist)

  1. Jay Cutler Guest Pose
  2. More Pro Bodybuilders
  3. More Strongman stars
  4. More interaction
  5. More freebies!!

First Post…. Just to say welcome!!

Posted on May 2, 2010 with 1 Comment

Hey everyone!!

This is the first post on the Blog, I’m not going to write about anything in particular on this first post more so just explain what I plan to write about in the future. I’ve set this Blog up to write about what I love. Bodybuilding! I spend all my time reading, eating, training and sleeping so I figured I may as well add to that by writing about bodybuilding too!

I’ve had a couple of issues with getting the site up together but these problems are hopefully going to be ironed out shortly, then it should be up up and away with the content!!

I am going to write about

Bulking
Cutting
Nutrition
Sleeping
Supplement Reviews
Reading

There are loads more I’m sure I’ll write about as I get into it too. If there are any suggestions for the site then put it in the comments box below, I want to get as much user interaction as possible!!

I hope you enjoy the site!!!
